One of the event highlights include a visit by Mr. Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) to SMU-TCS iCity Lab’s booth. Research Scientist TAN Hwee Xian and Research Fellow Nadee GOONAWARDENE engaged the Minister with iCity’s Model SHINESeniors Home - an interactive hands-on experiential home that simulates the sensor systems deployed in 70 senior’s homes around Singapore. This was then featured on Channel 8 Primetime National News.

In addition, a Dutch delegation also made a stop at iCity’s booth. The visit stemmed from Prof TAN Hwee Pink’s recent study visit to the Netherlands to attend “Ageing in the framework of the Influential Programme” organised by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The in-depth discussion that followed on research from SHINESeniors enriched both parties.
